American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA)

Johnson City Transit has been allocated $1,472,011 in ARRA funds through the Federal Transit Administration. The funds will be used to purchase seven (7) replacement buses for use in fixed route transit operations, five (5) replacement small buses for use in demand response operations (XTRA and Job Access services), eight (8) new bus shelters at several locations throughout the city, and new Intelligent Transportation Systems that will assist with daily scheduling operation and security of the transit services.

As a result of these investments, JCT will be able to offer public transportation service that is safer, more reliable, and more accessible for people with disabilities.
