The
Vehicle
JCT "XTRA"
is provided utilizing a small bus or van, equipped with wheelchair
lifts (or ramps), grab rails, and
low steps to accommodate riders with special needs.
JCT's
vehicles accommodate "common wheelchairs." A common
wheelchair is: 1) a mobility aid belonging to any class of three
or four wheeled devices designed for and used by individuals with
mobility impairments, whether operated manually or powered; and
2) which weighs no more than 600 pounds when occupied by the patron
and which may not exceed 30" width by 48" length when
measured 2" from the ground.
For
safety reasons, patrons in wheelchairs must be loaded by backing
the wheelchair onto the vehicle lift (with patron facing away from
the vehicle), and must allow JCT drivers to secure their wheelchair
once loaded into the vehicle. Drivers
will assist patrons on and off the vehicle as needed/requested.
The
Schedule and Fare JCT
"XTRA" service is available during the hours of JCT Fixed
Route operations: Monday through Friday, 6:15 a.m. to 6:15 p.m.
and on Saturday from 8:15a.m. to 5:15 p.m.
The fare is $1.50 per person one-way,
and $3.00 round-trip, if the pick-up and destination points are
located within 3/4 mile of a JCT fixed route.
JCT
will accommodate trips to points within the City of Johnson City
which are outside of its established ADA-paratransit area (3/4 mile
of a JCT fixed route) as space allows, at a higer fare, determined
by the trip distance. |
