Johnson City Transit System

Johnson City Transit System operates Monday through Friday from 6:15 a.m. to 6:15 p.m. (last 30-minute route begins at 5:45 p.m.), and on Saturday from 8:15 a.m. to 5:15 p.m (last 30-minute route begins at 4:45 p.m.). The Silver route operates from 7:15 a.m. to 5:15 p.m., Monday through Saturday (last 60-minute route begins at 4:15 p.m.). The Orange route operates from 9:15 a.m. to 2:15 p.m., Monday through Friday.

On Saturdays, call 919-7119 by 4:00 p.m. for a pick-up during the last hour of that day's bus service.

JCT buses do not operate on Sundays, New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Day after Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. (See BUCSHOT tab for BUCSHOT hours of operation.)

JCT operates seven buses on 12 fixed routes in the City. Ten of JCT's 12 fixed routes are approximately 30 minutes in length and meet at the transit center twice each hour; one fixed route (Orange route) is approximately 30 minutes in length and begins at the transit center at 15 minutes after the hour each hour of it's operation (returning to the transit center at fifteen minutes until the hour each hour of its operaiton); and one fixed route (Silver route) is approximately 60 minutes in length and begins/ends at the transfer point once each hour.

In addition to these 12 fixed routes, the ETSU campus area is served by the JCT BUCSHOT, which is open to the public. For information about BUCSHOT service, see the ETSU BUCSHOT tab.

All major commercial and institutional facilities in Johnson City are served, including East Tennessee State University, the Mountain Home Veterans Administration Center, hospitals, shopping malls and centers, and government offices. In addition, the major residential neighborhoods and group housing complexes are served. All fixed route buses are lift-equipped (or equipped with ramps) to meet the needs of clients with special needs.
